Privacy Policy

The short version

MeraGuru collects the minimum needed to run your account and generate content for you: your email, the study material you upload or describe, and what you generate. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and uploaded chapter files stay private to your account unless you explicitly mark a generated question public. Some processing - generating questions, notes, and tutor replies - is done by third-party AI providers; what's sent to them is described below.

What we collect

• Account information: your email address, username, and password (stored as an irreversible hash - we never see or store your actual password).
• Profile details: the board (CBSE/ICSE) and class you select, so content is generated at the right level.
• Content you provide: chapters you upload (text, PDF, Word documents, or photos), instructions you type for notes/tutor/assignment generation, and any AI Tutor conversations.
• Content generated for you: questions, question papers, notes, quizzes, and assignment handbooks tied to your account.
• Usage activity: what you generate and when, used to show your own study streak and progress - not shared with anyone else.

How your content is processed

To generate questions, notes, and tutor responses, the content you submit (chapter text, instructions, tutor messages) is processed by third-party AI service providers we've engaged to deliver that feature. Each operates under its own privacy and security terms; we send them only the specific content needed to fulfill your request, never your account credentials.

Other third-party services we use:

• Google Analytics (GA4): anonymized usage analytics - which pages get used, not what you personally generate.
• Cloudflare Turnstile: a privacy-friendly CAPTCHA shown during signup/login to block automated bot abuse.
• Email delivery: for account verification codes and password reset codes - only the email needed for that specific message is sent.

A note for students, parents, and teachers

MeraGuru covers Classes 1 through 12, which means some users are children. We don't knowingly collect more than an email address and study-related content from any user regardless of age, we don't run targeted advertising, and we don't sell data to third parties for marketing. If you're a parent or guardian and want to review or delete a child's account data, contact us using the details below - we'll act on it directly.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in and a CSRF-protection cookie required for secure form submissions - both essential to the service working at all. Google Analytics sets its own cookies for anonymized usage tracking, which you can opt out of using your browser's tracking-protection settings.

How long we keep your data

Your account, uploads, and generated content are kept for as long as your account exists. If you'd like your account and its data deleted, contact us - we'll remove it, aside from anything we're legally required to retain (like transaction/security logs) for a limited period.

Your content stays yours

Chapters, notes, and other material you upload or write remain private to your account. AI-generated questions are shared to the community question bank by default so other students studying the same material benefit - you can mark any question private from its edit page at any time.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use MeraGuru after a change means you accept the updated policy.
